WordSpace is proud to be partnering with Kettle Arts to bring you live literature in Dallas through our Pegasus Reading Series, curated and hosted by Sebastian H Paramo and Robert Torres.

This month we feature Texas poets with midwestern ties. Mark Allen Jenkins, Les Kay, Megan Peak, & TBA

Currently a PhD student in Humanities with a Creative Writing Focus at the University of Texas at Dallas, Mark Allen Jenkins is the former Editor-in-Chief for Reunion: The Dallas Review. His poetry has appeared in Memorious, Minnesota review, South Dakota Review, and is forthcoming in Every River on Earth: Writing from Appalachian Ohio.

Les Kay holds a PhD from the University of Cincinnati’s Creative Writing program and an MFA from the University of Miami. His poetry has appeared in a variety of literary journals including Whiskey Island, Sugar House Review, Stoneboat, Menacing Hedge, Third Wednesday, Santa Clara Review, The White Review, PANK, South Dakota Review, and elsewhere. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Michelle, three dogs, and their collective imaginations. His chapbook, The Bureau, is forthcoming from Sundress Publications.

Megan Peak is Poetry Editor at The Journal, the award-winning literary magazine at The Ohio State University. She lives in Columbus, Ohio while she finishes her M.F.A. in Poetry. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming from Blackbird, DIAGRAM, Four Way Review, Indiana Review, Muzzle, Ninth Letter, North American Review, PANK, The Pinch, Ploughshares, Sou’wester, Tupelo Quarterly, and Valparaiso Poetry Review, among others. She is originally from Aledo, TX.

Caitlin Pryor’s poetry is forthcoming or has appeared in Cold Mountain Review, Redivider, Nimrod, Faultline, The Mississippi Review, Poet Lore, Fugue, and elsewhere. She has been the recipient of The Mississippi Review Prize, The Ron McFarland Prize for Poetry, and an Avery Hopwood Award. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan, an MFA from The New School, and will complete a PhD at The University of North Texas, where she is currently a teaching fellow and serves as the Managing Editor of the American Literary Review. She also enjoys yoga, cooking, and watching obscene amounts of British crime television. She lives in Denton, TX with her husband, Chad, and their cat, Luna.
