Pegasus Reading Series: Bernhard, Briseño, Faye, & Lemon









Pegasus Reading Series is a monthly series presented by WordSpace showcasing writers in the North Texas area and beyond. Named Best Poetry Night by the Dallas Observer in 2015, Sebastian Paramo and Courtney Marie host.

Doors open at 7PM and show starts at 7:30PM.

This month, Courtney Marie and Sebastian Paramo host Amy Bernhard, Andy Briseño, and Sanderia Faye, author of Mourner’s Bench.

bernhardAMY BERNHARD’S essays appear in The Rumpus, VICE Magazine, Ninth Letter, Entropy Magazine, and The Colorado Review, among others. Her work has been awarded grants from The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center and The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She is a graduate of the Nonfiction Writing Program at The University of Iowa, and she currently teaches creative writing and literature at The University of Texas in Arlington.

ANDREW BRISEÑO is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he coordinates the Brainy Acts Poetry Society and the Cane River Reading Series. His work can be found recently in The Boiler, Waxwing, and Acentos Review.



author-1SANDERIA FAYE was born and raised in Gould, Arkansas. She serves on the creative writing faculty at Southern Methodist University. Faye is the author of Mourner’s Bench (University of Arkansas Press). The novel is the winner of the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award in debut fiction. Her work has appeared in various literary journals and in Arsnick: The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in Arkansas, edited by historians Dr. Jennifer Wallach and Dr. John Kirk. Faye is co-founder and fellow at Kimbilio Center for Fiction.

alex_lemonALEX LEMON’S most recent book is The Wish Book (a finalist for Best Poetry Collection by The Writer’s League of Texas). He is the author of Happy: A Memoir (Scribner–(a finalist for Best Book of Non-fiction by The Writer’s League of Texas) and three other poetry collections: Mosquito, Hallelujah Blackout, and Fancy Beasts. Feverland: Notes & Essays and Or Beauty, a fifth poetry collection are forthcoming from Milkweed Editions. His writing has appeared in Esquire, American Poetry Review, The Huffington Post, Ploughshares, Best American Poetry, Tin House, Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast, AGNI, New England Review, The Southern Review, Grist and jubilat, among others. Among his awards are a 2005 Fellowship in Poetry from the NEA, a Jerome Foundation Fellowship and a 2006 Minnesota Arts Board Grant. He is an editor-at-large for Saturnalia Books, the poetry editor of descant, a Senior Prose Editor for Tupelo Quarterly and sits on the editorial board of TCU Press and the advisory board of The Southern Review. He lives in Ft. Worth, Texas, writes book reviews for the Dallas Morning News, and teaches at TCU and Ashland University’s Low-residency MFA program.
