This month Courtney Marie and Sebastian Paramo host Ryan Bender-Murphy, author of “First Man on Mars” (Phantom Books, 2013), Kendra Greene, author of “Anatomy of a Museum, or, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Icelandic Phallological Museum But Were Afraid to Ask” (Analamous Press, 2015) and Paula Mendoza, author of “All Slither” (Raw Paw, 2015). Featuring the music of Joshua Westmerman.
RYAN BENDER-MURPHY‘s chapbook, First Man on Mars, was published by Phantom Books in 2013. His other work has recently been published in Better, The Boiler, Cartridge Lit, Country Music, Deluge, Everyday Genius, and Hobart. He has started a journal called Hardly Doughnuts.
A. KENDRA GREENE is Visiting Artist at the Dallas Museum of Art’s Center for Creative Connections. She has an MFA in Nonfiction from the University of Iowa, where she was a Jacob K. Javits Fellow. Her 2015 chapbook from Anomalous Press, Anatomy of a Museum, or, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Icelandic Phallological Museum But Were Afraid to Ask, was the first in an ongoing series of essays about Icelandic museums and the sorcery, sea monsters, and specimens that inspire them. The next chapbook, The Stone Collector, is forthcoming this Spring.
PAULA MENDOZA‘s work has appeared in Parcel, Bat City Review, Washington Square, and PANK, among others, and her chapbook, All Slither, was published by Raw Paw Press this year. She’s the essay editor for The Offing, assistant poetry editor at Newfound | Art & Place, and a reviewer for SCOUT. She’s the recipient of the Hopwood Award in poetry from the University of Michigan, where she earned her MFA. She lives and writes in Denton, Texas.
JOSHUA WESTERMAN is a violist and composer residing in Dallas, TX. He has participated in the Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice, Current New Media and the Round Top Orchestral Festival. He attended New England Conservatory and earned a BM from the University of North Texas. He is currently working on a certificate in Art and Curatorial Practice from the New Centre for Research and Practice where he is preparing a collaborative show at the Tranzit Gallery in Prague.
